Hilda got her musical start at a young age performing alongside her sisters, often with their mother accompanying them on piano, in their hometown Baptist Church in Aransas Pass, Texas. Growing up sheltered from the mainstream music of the eighties, the household was filled with the sounds of Gospel and Motown greats such as Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross and the Supremes, and Sandi Patti.
While in college, Hilda auditioned for a local cover band and earned the spot as the lead female vocalist. The band performed around South Texas and is was during this time that she was introduced to the Blues. After a little over a year with the band she decided to venture out on her own and explore other genres of music. Her live shows would consist of mostly rock in both Spanish and English. Hilda released her first album, "Latina Soul" in 2009 which is a mix of blues covers, r&b, and rock in both English and Spanish. The album scored a few top 100 spots on the iTunes Charts in Austria and Mexico.
In November 2012, Hilda entered into the studio to begin work on her sophomore album, "Love Me Alone", the album is filled with 13 tracks of original music from songwriters around the world. Hilda engineered, co-produced and co-arranged the entire album alongside Ernest Ruiz and Mike Gregory. "Love Me Alone" was released in March 2013 and debuted on the Roots Music Report at #36 and is still gaining momentum.
Hilda has opened for Marcia Ball, Los Lobos, and The Texas Tornados, just to name a few. Whether Hilda is billed as the opening act or the headliner this Latina Soulstress will leave you begging for more.
