I wrote this song in 1992, while sitting on the edge of a cliff outside Austin Texas. I sang from my campfire on the Thursday mountain, to the canyons below. It's the most honest rendition of a blend of emotional angst that filled my heart night and day... It was either "jump" or write a song...so I wrote a song.

This song appeared in my live shows on the west coast for many years, where I performed a new album of material I called "45 Seconds of Search" . I entitled the album that, because I understood that publishing houses and producers looking for new artists/songs to promote would "skip-search" their way through a cd and only apply less than a minute of time (on average) to the vast submissions they received in the mail. Basically, i was bragging to friends that I could spot a good song in less than 15 seconds...and I was even saying I could find great talent by skip searching 3 songs on an album... so... basically I think I was a cynical bastard at the time, since very few producers would recognize the beauty of this song (for example) if they just skip-searched my record.

This song, "Two People Working it out" was the "anti-dote" for another song that appeared on the record called "Crossroads of LOve" which I wrote in the same timeframe...and both are two sides of the same coin; a reality about losing some of the precious relationships in my life while searching for a way to maintain my creative independence as an artist/musician....person...family man...and still be a stable participant in this society. I sincerely was not certain I could withstand losing another friend or love....and so I wrote "Crossroads of Love".... Writing Crossroads of Love opened some internal/heart/psychic doorwars to a type of vision for another reality that everyone needs "Two People Working it out" .

IN the very same way, that full record describes parts of the same LARGE wave encapsulated by these two songs from that era. At the last minute, I decided to delete "Cr
Hey, have you heard?
Tony and Sue are divorced?
And Steven and that girl from New York
Well... it's all over

And Mark ..and Constance
Well that's all in the past.
And I'm sitting here...on the beach,
and my heart is out of gas.

Yeah... I'm thinking about leaving
packing up all my things to go!
but if I drive outa here,
all the way, I hope.... that it doesn't snow

I got bad tires, ...I can build fires,
though the ones in my heart feel like they're out!
and if I could ask for anything...
I'd like to hear something about...

Two People Working it out!

Yeah, I am thinking about leaving,
packing up my ship to go!
but if I fly out of fear,
all the way, I'll know...
that I got nothing much to show

I got inspired, but then I got tired,
and it was too hard to deal with the doubt
and...if I could ask for anything...
I'd like to hear something about,
Two People working it Out.

Chorus;

Hey isn't it time somebody said something,
Somebody did something,
People started talking about,
Two People Working it out!

Hey isn't it time somebody said something,
Somebody did something,
People started talking about,
Two People Working it out!

Hey isn't it time somebody said something,
Somebody did something,
People started talking about,
Two People Working it out!

Hey isn't it time somebody said something,
Somebody did something,
People started talking about,
Two People Working it out! x
