A contemplative album rock song, subtle, with just a little bit of an edge.

Lyrics/Music/Singing/Playing/Panhandling/Arranging/Recording: Tom O'Brien

I was reading a Conde Nast Travel magazine in a waiting room, reading about al these adventures that I would never take, and then thought of all the homeless in my town and the great chasm that exists between classes.
I was reading in the pages of a trael magazine
Considering a journey
To a place I'd never been
Where I could wash an elephant
In a clear Sri Lankan stream
Or richly tip a driver
Whom I'd never see again

But there doesn't seem to be a grand design
And I think I need another cardboard sign

I rather like the furnishings
In the room where Dali stayed
And from the bedroom window
I could watch the grand parade
And how I'd fume and fuss
When my room service was delayed
They'd better be damned sure
When I return my bed is made

I wish I had some leather and some glue
To fix the hole that I've got in my shoe

I must ask the concierge
Where one can have tuxedoes pressed
And can he recommend a place
To buy my wife a brand new dress?
And maybe a massage to relieve
Any undue stress
In an afternoon oasis
Where we all can get some rest

You know I'm down a little on my luck
I've got a dime, but can you spare a buck? x
