Rhythm-filled reggae-inspired soulful poetry

Words/Muic/Singing/Playing/Arranging/Recording: Tom O'Brien

A man may think he has the worries of the world upon his shoulders - but it may be all small stuff, and we shouldn't sweat the small stuff.
I have the worries of the world
To bear upon my shoulders
The worries of the world
To carry on my way

My roof is getting thinner
It's almost time for the monsoon
I'll have to work 'til well past dinner
By the light of the little moon
I think one of my chickens is sick, now
he will not give me eggs
And my she-goat has got something wrong
With one of her back legs

(Chorus)

Something got into my rice bag
So there's not enough to eat
I'd go pick some fruit, but I haven't got
The shoes to clothe my feet
That child of ours who did not die
Is growing rather tall
It's a good thing that we don' have more
We couldn't feed them all

(Chorus)

But, at least I have you to sing to
At least I have you to pray with
At least I have you to soothe me
At least I have you to be with

(Chorus)

The hair upon my head is grey
My eyes are getting dim
My hands are growing stiffer
There are blotches on my skin
If I didn't have the worries of the world
Upon my back
I might stand erect and look around
At all the things I lack

Thank God for the
Worries of the world
I bear upon my shoulders
The worries of the world
I carry on my way x
