from the EP, "This Antediluvian World"

words and music by Rick Barry (C)Stupid American Songs, BMI.

This song was inspired by a conversation occurring on an night time drive from Connecticut to New Jersey
What’s the point of a midnight walk,
Pay no attention to the stars, so many of ’em are dead or dieing
That the night sky is one great black graveyard.
And no, I don’t think I’m that smart.
I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know shit about astronomy,
I just like to hear myself talk
And post-mortem starlight just looks better on me.

Two generations of blue pill pres_c_r_i_p_tions, raised but not grown.
And it makes me feel so damn old.

And darling, we both know that I,
I am not a suitable solution for your melancholy
My words rarely incite a smile,
I mean, if you want I will try, but lets speak honestly

Two generations of satellite salvation via cellular phone
And it makes me feel so damn old.

So, what’s the point of a midnight walk,
When the moon’s just a big rock, reflecting the light off those dead stars
That fane immortality ever evening
Yeah, why can’t we just let them rest in peace.

Five generations, of petroleum addictions beneath a burning yellow sun.
And it makes me feel so damn young. x
