A Poem Written by Natalie's Mum
This Is The Question.
NATALIE
Born 28/11/98 – Died 15/12/98
You will never know the joy I felt that day
When you popped out to say g’day
When they said Baby Girl
I was filled with delight
But only until later that night
They came to me and said it’ll be alright
But your little girls been fitting all night
The horror, the shock, what mistake did I make
She’ll be alright, these doctors are great
A few days later.Results start coming in
That’s not good enough, we said, Do them again
The childrens hospital became involved
But the results were the same,So we were told
Her brain was damaged, quite badly they said
And, we think It’s time you do what’s best
The next few days were full of hope
She squeezed our fingers we would doet
She opened her eyes and stared at me
OH, what a beautiful memory
Baths, Cuddles and Kisses galour
Watching our son love his sister some more
Take heaps of photo’s get a photographer too
Kangaroo cuddles, and bloody monitors too
As the days passed, It became more apparent
That our little girl is fighting a loosing battle
She fought so hard to stay with us
But in the end we turned the monitors off
Me and Daddy stared at you
Looked at each other and didn’t know what to do
We called the doctors in several times
But the stethoscope would startle you
And bring you back to life
The sadness in my heart that night
There was no more joy, no more delight
My heart was aching,I just couldn’t stay
I’m so sorry, that I walked away
The pain I felt was much too strong
But I know that walking away was wrong
Your Daddy stayed with you, He was strong
He held you in his arms all night long
Your life was so short and sweet
I’m so glad that we got to meet
Were all here for you
Daddy, Nathan and me
So come to us within our dreams
And tell us all you wanted to say
The time will come,My special girl
When we’ll be together again
If it wasn’t for my son, I think I’d go insane
My little girl’s in heaven and things just aren’t the same
My little boy if full of life
Running, Jumping and riding his bike
7yrs old, And my hearts delight
He mentions his sister every night
The cremation for you was real nice
People came from all over the place
All our family,Dad & Me
And heaps of people we didn’t expect to see
All topay their respects to you
Our little girl,that they hardly knew
We collected you, in a few days
And finally got to take you home To Stay
The next few days and Christmas was here
Our son Nathan is full of cheer
Papers and presents going everywhere
And what’s on our minds – Despair
Christmas was hard for Nathan that year
A sister for a present,that’s what he wanted for years
That present has gone , but more are here
I suppose when you’re a kid,
You go from pain to cheer
He remembers his sister fresh in his mind
This will only get easier, with time
So, you’re an angel in heaven, and beautifulI bet
Can you see I wear a necklace of you around my neckIt sits on my heart,So you’re close to me
I’ll never forget you Natalie
The memory and joy of you, I cherish deep in my heart
My biggest regret, Is that we had to part
With all my love
