Don’t Wanna Be Edward D. (Slater) ©2006 BMI

When I wake up and I lie there
And I think out loud to myself
I don’t want to be the Edward D. Wood of music
But maybe I am!

When I get up and I step out
Into this 2-D world I’ve made
I don’t want to be famous after I’m dead
But maybe I will be…

Chorus
And who’s to say they know me now?
When I was young it seemed so easy
Endless roads and countless days
Stretched out before me
But now I find
I’ve lost the time
And the days get shorter
The girls get younger
The cold nights just seem to go on and on and on….

Chorus
The hair on my head’s coming out of my ears
I haven’t seen good taste in years
I churn out crap most everyday
I got old and so will you what can I say?

Maybe I am

Getting Back in the Swing
I saw this guy's posting of "Ode to Mary Ann", on the "New Release" list and (hoping it was about the Gilligan's Island femme- it was) gave it a listen. I was immediately struck by the humour and the musicianship. I'm glad I noticed it, because this is some incredibly imaginative and accomplished music. As a fan of Edward D, Wood (go figure), I had to post this song. Great blend of instrumentation and lyric savvy. Listen, enjoy, and share.
