I see their faces on the TV screen.
And I know you do too.
I bet you think about it late at night.
Well you know, I do too.
You think of all the ways to make it right.
Is there anything you can do?

And you know sometimes we just don’t try.
And you know sometimes we just get by.

But sometimes, sometime is, sometime is now.
Sometimes, sometime is now.
Sometimes, sometime is now.
And you know sometimes we just don’t try.
And you know sometimes we just get by.

You pass them every morn on the way to work.
As they lie, sit, or stand.
You try to avoid their longing stares.
Will you fill their open hands?

Do you know how to help ease their pain?
Can you help shield their kids from the rain?

You wake today and say you’ll make it right.
And you’ll see their smile of thanks.
But first, you have a few things on your mind.
Won’t be long before they’re done.
But the hours pass and now you’re tired.
Another day, you’re not inspired.

And you know sometimes we just don’t try.
And you know sometimes we just get by.

You know sometimes we don't try. You know sometimes we just drive right on by. But today you spent too long in your nice warm shower and getting dressed you heard a newshead spout that you've got a half now plus your normal hour. But you can't afford a half an hour. Just like you can't afford a half a dollar. You don't have that kinda time or dime. So you stop at 'bucks to slug some joe and off you go and so the years go by. Weary, weary eyes. But it's no surprise. You buy your lies. Soon you're angry if you just see their faces, how they disgrace your once favorite places and you click your locks twice on one of your SUVs and flip-flip channels rapidfire as nobody watches your headrest TVs. You have no time and no cash to spare...and if you drive fast enough it's like they're not even there. It's someone else's job to care. Didn't someone tell 'em? It's not polite to stare. So you thank your dealer for your tinted glass and curse their dealer as you speed on past. But sometimes some make some time and, in time, you say maybe you, but for now, today, there's just way to much to do and somebody else will round up the bodies when it's 20 below and some more tomorrow when again, you're in a huge rush and stalled in your steamy shower. Open hands need an open mind...an open heart--maybe it's time for you to start. Now. Are you gunna pull your monster truck over and run 'em down some more or help 'em outta their own private ditch they call home? Are you there for them or are they all alone? Are you? Too?
