Lonely But Not Alone is a tune about homelessness - but told from the perspective of the homeless person... I was thinking of B.B. King's style of soulful blues - although I'm not a millionth the musician B.B. is, I felt that his style would sing the piece best.

Lonely, But Not Alone
10.2006 Jimmy Bear Pearson

Watching as the world walks by
They've got so much to do.
No time for my point of view...
They don't see us
Hanging on by our nails,
Hanging on by our dreams.

I'm not worried about fashion,
Or phones that ring,
Or what show is on TV
Just a dry place to sleep
And good food to eat.

I've seen us wander street to street
Dirty sidewalk under our feet.
Walkin' to a rhythm all our own
Lonely, but not alone.

Bus station's the bath
And boxes are the rooms.
Don't ask for my address
Or my telephone.
I'm from here. Can't you see?

I've got a story I can tell
That's long or maybe short.
All you gotta do is ask.
Don't need no sympathy
Just a home. Just a home.

I've seen us wander street to street
Dirty sidewalk under our feet.
Walkin' to a rhythm all our own
Lonely, but not alone.

What got us here
Doesn't matter much
It's where we are that counts.
Tomorrow's just like today
When night's just the cold.

No one deserves to live
On the streets.

I've seen us wander street to street
Dirty sidewalk smears our feet.
Walkin' to a rhythm all our own
No place to call home.
Lonely, but not alone.
