“Chain Gang” is a true story and a song about chain gangs from the 1930s. I conducted extensive research on chain gangs after the American Civil War, and I wanted to write a song about that since I did “Mrs. Mojo.” My vocal showmanship, harmonica playing, and added guitar contribute to a blend of lyrics, charisma, style, recognition, loyalty, and respect. Now, let’s get back to the story: Back in the ‘30s, after the Civil War, a group of prisoners had been incarcerated, much like in the movie “Life” starring Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence. So, I just want to do what’s right with my musical vibe. But the blues are my only passion. Listen to the story; just think about it. This is the second to none performance of the year, embodying my craft and progression with passion and experience of blues.

Chain Gang
Written by Shawn Adam Williams
Intro:
These men called themselves the “Chain Gang”
I’m gonna tell you all about it
It was back in the 1930s
In the words of Joe F. Hand
“I am a fugitive from a Georgia Chain Gang.”
I'm gonna tell you right now
I’m gonna sing this story for you
Verse:
Their hands are scarred, their hearts are sad
These men felt heartbroken, the warden gets mad
Their bodies are sweating, the hammers are pounding
Their faith are in fear, and their hope is losing
Chorus:
Can you hear the voices of the Chain Gang?
Can you hear them singing like church bells rang?
They singin’; “Lord, feel my pain.”
Can you hear the voices of the Chain Gang?
