Has anyone ever wrote a song about you ?
.... was it good or bad? Did you think they got it right or were you surprised, insulted or very touched by it. Details please :)

yes there were several women who wrote songs about me. I'd have to say they mostly got it all right.

Not that I know of!!! However I've written several songs about specific people myself - sometimes the song lasts a lot longer than the feelings that inspired the songs and then the song can apply to other people as well - some songs always remain about the original person it was written about such as one I wrote about my father called Twice A Year.

It would be nice to have a song written about me I think - not an angry one though like one I wrote about a friend called "No Friend Of Mine" as he let me down so badly haha!!!

Both Verity, they were correct, what they sang.

I figure I don't have any say it what they think, it's none of my business. :D

Well, I wrote a song about you, a long time ago... It went something like this:

Who holds the keys to all the locks?
Who winds the springs on all the clocks?
Verity
Who puts the rings on all the bells?
Who spells the words that cast the spells?
Verity
She's such a mystery

Who holds the reigns to all our brains?
Who twists the rope and links the chains?
Verity
She's such a mystery

Verity, Verity - Where have you been?
There's a hole in the Pipeline we need you to mend
You better remember what Verity said
She's got eyes in the back of her head
She's got eyes in the back of her head

Who blows the horns on Satan's head?
Who puts the holes in whole wheat bread?
Verity
Who pulls the strings that make us dance?
Who puts the ants down in our pants?
Verity
She's such a mystery

Verity, Verity - Where have you been?
There's a hole in the Pipeline we need you to mend
You better remember what Verity said
She's got eyes in the back of her head
She's got eyes in the back of her head

But to answer your question, yes! I don’t remember if it was a response to a pipeline challenge or what, but a fellow “pipeliner” wrote a tribute to my artwork I used to post here. He’s still around, so let’s see if he remembers it. I was quite honored! I can’t find it anymore, unfortunately.

A-ha, the Verity Song Challenge was a big success with half a dozen new, specially composed songs - still on the site somewhere I believe. I like how you said "It goes something like this" and then we see the whole masterpiece word after word :) Your artwork was pretty amazing too.

Welcome back Stegor!
Do you remember this one?

Ode To Stegor by DUANE FLOCK
Can you draw a fine line
Show the world what’s in your mind
Your gift is there for all to see
Would you draw a picture of me

Chorus
You have the ability to stop time
Capture history for all mankind
The pen is mightier than the sword
Timeless treasures is our reward
Stegor’s lead is good as gold

And from your fingers comes your soul
The pencil does just what it’s told
The honesty, a smiling face
That takes us to another place

You have the ability to stop time
Capture history for all mankind
The pen is mightier than the sword
Timeless treasures is our reward
Stegor’s lead is good as gold

What goes up, must come down
Don’t matter what ladder you have found
Just put your heart out on that page
You make your luck. Forget your age

You have the ability to stop time
Capture history for all mankind
The pen is mightier than the sword
Timeless treasures is our reward
Stegor’s lead is good as gold

Wow! I forgot how good it was, Duane! Just reading the lyrics gave me chills! My friend downloaded that song and played it for all to hear at my something-th birthday party almost 14 years ago. A moment I'll never forget.

A local band that was around in 1994 called Krunk had a song called “I Am More Punk Than You” I was told years later was about me. Meant as a dis but I thought it was hilarious.
