digital drumming
well, in the day I used to pack up my black Rogers into leather covers (as I couldn not afford the weight or price of hardshell cases) before every gig. Loaded it into my old Austin "station wagon" that only had room for the drums and one guitar/guitarist. I had ripped out all the seats except driver's, for room. Unpacked and carried drums, seemingly always upstairs or downstairs. Never met an elevator.
Now, I use elec "hand drum", a Roland HPD10, and play more drums than i could ever afford to buy or store; some "drums" are not great, admittedly. But life is about tradeoffs, eh? I put the 7 pound drum and its stand, cords, into a large guitar case. I carry the amp in my other hand, and sometimes they let me on the bus that way.
snares, several.
toms, too many to thing about, from a deep African to a high electronic one (pew!).
cymbals, some by pressure change from ride to crash, or ride to bell.
sticks, rainsticks, guiros, hand claps, finger snaps.
I cannot imagine going back to a "real" set. Ever.
PS: just bought a real CD from a llocal store, BUTTERFIELD "resurreciton of Pigboy Crabshaw". Besides the title, are rare great album with horns and funk and fine slow blues.
TRY "Driving Wheel" first.
if you love blues. Morgan
