2006 is the year for Fremont John’s indie CD release, “Timeline”. An ongoing national radio campaign has garnered over 50 FM stations with station add announcements still coming in. “Timeline is getting FM airplay from New York City to, as far west as Reno, NV and from the northern tip of Michigan in Houghton to the southernmost city of Key West. Even more Internet stations are airing “Timeline” songs. Two songs from the “Timeline” CD, “No Pity On Me” and “Devil’s Dune” were semi-finalists in the 2006 Dallas Songwriters Assn. songwriting contest which, garnered entries from around the world. ""Devil's Dune is also listed on Neil Young's web site and can be streamed there and it was just selected via Sonicbids opportunity to for inclusion on a compilation CD going to the troops and produced by 3 Point Production. The song was included on a compilation produced by Lost Cat Records called ""The Best of the Great American Music Hour - Vol 2"". Fremont John is a favorite performer at Tropicana Field as pre-game entertainment for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays MLB team. He has played several games each for the 2005 and 2006 seasons. He is considered and icon of the rich Key West music scene where he comes from and still performs regularly in places like Sloppy Joe’s, The Bull, Finnegan’s Wake and other great Key West venues. Summertime sees John in Put-in Bay, OH (“the Key West of the north”) and in his home state of Michigan where he plays restaurant/bar venues all along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Fremont John Ashton’s rich musical background comes from almost 20 years of classical piano training and nearly as many years on trombone. He carried a double instrument major at the Michigan State University School of Music. 1999 was a year of big change to his life when he moved to Key West, Florida, to revive a sorely missed full-time music career. Later that year, he independently released his first CD entitled, “Acoustic Thunder” which consists of eight original songs and four cover tunes. The “Acoustic Thunder” CD has sold over 2,000 copies from the stage. The Internet has resulted in virtually thousands of mp3 digital downloads from this CD. Spring 2001 brought a request from management at The Bull in Key West for Fremont John to expand his solo performance with a band. Fremont John formed “Acoustic Thunder”. The band created a steady audience-building gig and became one of the island’s premier rock/show bands. The band’s self-produced live CD entitled “Lighting Strikes The Bull” was released in July 2002. Over 1,000 copies have been sold from the stage.

Devil's Dune Up-tempo tune ala Bruce Springsteen, great tenor solo from Crispin Cioe (Cocker, Stones, James Brown). It's a song for the soldiers in Iraq that acknowledges the great sacrifice they make just to be there.
