Mainly described as ""weird,"" Lucas Kurmis is a singer songwriter from Minneapolis Minnesota. Lucas' music ranges from folk-punk, to indie rock, to spoken word, to noise rock. Lucas' focus is on guitar, but he uses strings, drums, and a toy casio in his own style. Lucas is currently releasing a visual album song by song on spotify, bandcamp and youtube. The album is called Another Time/Life/Universe and focuses on the grays of fiction/nonfiction and missed connections.
Escape in Someone Else Featuring Jae Yates of My Mom's Guitar on cello and Bozena Scheidal of the Riverrats on violin, escape in someone else is a shifting, changing mix of chill and creepy, sometimes at the same time. Written and performed by Lucas Kurmis and mixed and mastered by Jacob Jones of Meteor Base.
I Thought I Died This is the fifth release of the visual concept album series of Another Time/Life/Universe “I Thought I Died is confrontational, abrasive, and utterly transfixing.” Amelia Vandergast, ANR Music Factory Watch on YouTube Listen on Spotify
Record Store This is the sixth installment of the visual concept album series of Another Time/Life/Universe Mixed by Lucas Rollo, this song has more of a "live" feel and is meant to be more of a spoken word story over music. Like the rest of the album, the song navigates disorienting relationships.
That Feeling you Get in Public Spaces This was the first video release of the visual album project of Another Time/Life/Universe. With heavy inspiration from Modest Mouse as well as inspiration from Cloud Cult and Bon Iver, this is one of my favorites of mine.
1000 This is the seventh release of the visual album series called Another Time/Life/Universe. This is a departure of my usual Freak Folk sound into a more meditative piano led song about time and truth. Inspired by Regina Spektor and Cloud Cult, this is a reworking of one of my oldest riffs.
Why? This is the eighth release for the visual album series of Another Time/Life/Universe This is also the first part of three songs that go together especially. Heavily inspired by the band "Why?" this is an experimental spoken word piece with a bit more of a rocky edge than the rest of the album.
I had a couple runs with the Devil This is the ninth release of the visual album series of Another Time/Life/Universe This is also part two of three songs that go together especially. This is the quietest of these three songs, but it still retains the eerie atmosphere. Inspired by Perfume Genius and Xiu Xiu more than anything else.
One Soul This is the tenth release of the visual album project of Another Time/Life/Universe This is also part three of three songs that especially go together. This is maybe the most strange and experimental of these three releases, but if it helps, the vocal effects were inspired by Back Pack by AJJ and Hudson by Vampire Weekend
Back in 420BC (feat. Kyrie Nova) This is the 11th release of the visual album series of Another Time/Life/Universe. This is a homage to the song "Back When I Was 4" by Jeffrey Lewis and the fan-made music video by JD Garrett.
Guitarionette This is the twelfth installment of the visual album series of Another Time/Life/Universe. This is a folk punk song, but also a bit prog with the through composing style. This one is most compared to The Silver Jews.
