Music has been an integral part of Archie Hughes' life since early childhood. He was born into a musical family and therefore feels that music is one of the most important aspects of his life. The music that his family exposed Archie to in his early years helped him develop his unique and distinct style of song writing. His best audience at the early stage of his dream was his first 2 children, Yvonne Marie and Shane Dennis Hughes at a very young age. According to Archie, they were the best audience EVER!

Band History:
Archie Hughes has had a band since the early 70's up to the late 90's. The sound was from Country Swing to Southern Rock. Playing in small clubs to playing at major events to be the open act for major artists' throughout the greater SF Bay Area and beyond. His band performed mainly all originals written by Archie Hughes and arranged by the great musicians that were with Archie through the years.

The early years, the band name was ""Archie Hughes and the Country Rock Swingers"". Writing and recording such as songs ""Falling In Love Again"" and number one most requested song"" All I Want To Do is Live"", the band started a great following at a young age.

From 1981 to 1998, ""The Archie Hughes Band"" was one of the best original sounds of Country Rock in the greater SF Bay Area. They were the most requested band to be hired to perform as opening acts for such great artists and bands such as Bonnie Raitt, The Gregg Allman Band, The Dicky Betts Band, The Marshall Tucker Band, Elvin Bishop, Lyle Lovett, The O'Kanes, Leon Russell, The Outlaws, Johnny Rivers, California Cowboys and others.

Archie's musicians through those years were the best. They gave it all they could. They had reason to believe that something was going to happen. The musicians in the band was George Cordes on drums. Originally from New Jersey, George was if not the best percussionist on earth. He had a style that was his own. On bass was Bob Porter. From Gilroy, CA, Bob's bass playing style that matched the rhythm with George was phenomenal. It was a rhythm section that every band always wanted. The lead guitarist/vocalist, Rob Cunningham, was from San Jose, CA. He knew how to make his Fender Strat just cry. You can hear that in the track """"Strong Man."" He would get so in to it, his feet would be a foot off the ground. His vocal harmonies with Archie was so smooth, he made the vocal section sound as one. The emphases he did with the timing and pronunciations of lyrics were just outstanding. He was a perfectionist when it came to harmonies and stickler of being perfect.

On guitar and keyboards was Jim Comp. From Wastonville, CA, he was the 3rd part harmony on vocals. Rob and Jim were performers together from previous bands. Their vocals together were smooth as molasses. They knew how to work together instrumentally and vocally. And when the 3 voices came together, it just make you stand up and yell, ""HELL YEA, TURN IT UP"". And that was the ""Archie Hughes Band"".

They recorded a few demos and did some full production recordings. Their recording ""I Wanna Be Somebody"" and ""Boogie Man"" was having air time and was constantly being requested for radio play. But all this came to a tragic end when their friend, co-writer, and brother, musician Rob Cunningham's life ended without notice.

The band was absolutely stunned. Stunned is not even the word to describe the feeling and the emotion that still haunts them today. Knowing that we were just on the verge of knocking down the doors with their music, they were knocked down to the floor with this tragic. That was back in 1998 and that’s when the band decided that they had enough of the world of live entertainment. Archie put his guitars away and flatly retired from the music scene. Until recently his 2 sons convinced him to start recording some of his songs from the past and present.

Recently Archie has been performing with George and his band up in Ft. Bragg, CA. There seems to be a rumor that Archie, Tierney, Bob and George may have an ""Archie Hughes Band"" reunion sometime in the future if all goes well.

Archie has continued his music career with songwriting and performances to this very day by teaming up with an old friend of his, Dale Brock. These two singer-songwriters has collaborated some of the best original Americana songs and now performs as a duet called T'Soul.
