Noted for his singing in Houston in the early 1970s, in the midst of America's musical renaissance, Barrymore started his professional singing career at the early age of sixteen. Success was not an easy task. Barrymore felt restricted geographically and vocally so he bolstered his vocal development with private voice tutors Connie Orgonas (Frances Bible School of Music at Rice University), and Helen McComas. As his voice grew in quality he felt his only creative alternative was to break away. Barrymore left for Europe in 1976 and managed to do dates at 'Capone's' in Denmark, 'The Revolution' in Amsterdam, the 'Théâtre de la Ville', 'Le Chevalier du Temps' and 'Le Miroir du Temps' in Paris, working with Parisian legends Bobby Few, Roger Raspail, Mark Thompson and LaVelle, followed by a lengthy contract in 'The Sporting Club' in Monte Carlo. His Monte Carlo exposure to Shirley Bassey, Frank Sinatra and Lena Horne helped perfect his showmanship. After a brief 'cameo' appearance in Patrick Dumont's film 'Niege', he returned to the U.S. to produce and record the 'Rock' single 'So Long Time and 'Motorcycle' with Rick Danko of 'The Band' on the Palladium Records label(BMI). While in the U.S. he also produced and hosted his own music/variety/poetry cable T.V. show 'Barrymore's Patio'. After, he returned to Paris and continued to perform various styles of music including Gospel tours and Rhythm n'Blues presentations in Spain,Sicily,Greece,Turkey,Portugal,Corsica,Val Thorens, and numerous other cities in France. He is currently involved with projects in Paris with the alluring and versatile stylings of guitarist John Astor, and the vibrant piano renditions of Victor Placide, as well as constructing possibilities for other Jazz/RnB/Pop/and Rock contracts. Barrymore extends his infinite thanks to Veronique Izambard, and Thomas Gautier of Babel Productions, as well as a special and heartfelt endearment to the 'magical' and 'inspirational'...'Wen-Wen'. Most of all divine reverence to the 'Creator' of all things…past and present.
