About Mixmastered Records:
About

Mixmastered Records is the newest label to surface in Chicago! The company started with the vision of Dan Morrell and his passion to reach a wide audience with catchy music. While being one of Chicago’s hottest DJ’s, he was able to focus on what listeners really want to hear. His dream was able to progress with the help of Chicago’s own Soundmaster T and his talent for production. Together, the duo creates a winning combination that will echo in the music industry. Mixmastered Records will focus on the best party music and will showcase a variety of genres and artists.

About Soundmaster T:
Soundmaster T is undeniably one of Chicago's most talented producers, songwriters, and rappers. His passion for music began at a young age when he performed in his church's choir. Years later, Soundmaster T emerged in the music industry as a DJ in Chicago. It was from his passion and talent to play hits in the clubs that he decided to take on his own musical career.

Soundmaster T soon began producing and blending hip hop and dance music into his own unique urban sound that created the popular hit "Too Much Booty (In the Pants)." The song took off and made it big in southern clubs and eventually transitioned to urban radio. "Too Much Booty (In the Pants)" went platinum and appeared on the hit television show "So You Think You Can Dance," and in movies like "The Underclassman" and "Date Movie".

Due to his growing popularity, Soundmaster T hit the road on a nationwide tour with acts like Twista, Lil John, and Ying Yang Twinz. When the tour came to a close, Soundmaster T decided once again to try something new musically. He started the popular Chicago group, The Mercenaries, and teamed up with rapper, Jah Rista. Now, Soundmaster T is back in his hometown of Chicago working with Jah Rista and The Mixmaster Dan Morrell to create "The Droked Out Movement."

You can hear his songs, "Do It Like My Birthday" featuring Twista, "Droked Out", and "I'm Gone (The Patron Song)" everywhere in Chicago, including the B96 Street Mix Show. Soundmaster T is proving yet again that he is next to blow up in the music industry.

"Being a solid artist, producer, and performer, Soundmaster T is shaping up to be Chicago's next
triple-threat talent!" -Erik Bradley, Music Director,
B96 Radio (WBBM-FM) Chicago.

About Jah Rista
Recording artist and song writer Jah Rista started rapping at the early age of ten. With inspirations from Erik B, Rakim, and Dr. Dre, Jah Rista entered a series of talent competitions to try out his material on a live audience. By the age of sixteen, he was on a year winning streak in his home state of Alabama and across Georgia. It was from these competitions that he gained the confidence and exposure to create his unique style of rap. Jah Rista describes his style as, "A mixture of unnamable elements" and "aggressive".

Due to his growing popularity, Jah Rista started opening up for acts and performing at clubs in Alabama. It was at one of these clubs in 1997 when he met Chicago's own, Soundmaster T at a show. Soon after, Jah Rista left Alabama and moved up to Chicago to perform in Soundmaster T's new band, The Mercenaries. Soundmaster T described Jah Rista as "the last piece of the puzzle" for his five man group.

Since then, Jah Rista has performed with artists like Ludacris, Twista, Crucial Conflict, T.I., Neyo, and Lil Wayne to name a few. Given the nickname "Prince of Chicago" by Power 92's The Hot Boyz, Jah Rista plans to outgrow his name in the next year with hopes of becoming the "God of Rap." He adds exceptional talent and originality to the Mixmastered Records family and is on his way to having the whole country screaming "Churrrrrrrch!"

B96's DAN MORRELL LAUNCHES MIXMASTERED RECORDS

Signs local Chicago artists Soundmaster T and Jah Rista CHICAGO, Illinois- B96's Dan Morrell announced today that he is launching a new Chicago based record label named Mixmastered Records. Mixmastered Records will focus on the best party music and will showcase a variety of genres and artists. Morrell is a well known DJ, currently broadcasting for the Chicago radio station, B96. As an entrepreneur, he also owns Chicago’s most successful nightlife promotions company, Mixmaster Throwdown. It is from these two experiences and his passion for music that he drew the inspiration to start Mixmastered Records. “I wanted to start this label for two reasons. First, I wanted to pick up where Kanye West left off with putting Chicago back on the map musically. Secondly, with all of the amazing undiscovered talent here, if the major labels won't pay attention to these opportunities to make money, then I will!” Mixmastered Record's artists include rapper/producer/songwriter Soundmaster T and rapper Jah Rista. Soundmaster T's music has appeared on the popular dance show, So You Think You Can Dance, and in movies such as Date Movie and The Underclassmen. He has also performed with artists like Lil John, Twista, and Soulja Boy. “The major record labels really messed up by leaving these guys unsigned and everyone wonders why the industry is hurting. If the labels took more chances then they would have the freedom to assemble a quality line up like mine,” Morrell comments about his current artists. For more information about Mixmastered Records or to book an artist, please contact Heather Prater at 312-278-1184 X704 or heather.prater@mixmasteredrecords.com.
