SHORT BIOGRAPHY
1980 – 1985
At the age of 13 TJ starts writing his first songs. He forms his first band “Firebird” and experiments with different styles and takes up the spot of a guest musician in numerous bands He joins Spirit Of Soul in 1985.
1986 – 1990
In 1986 TJ starts drumming and forms the heavy metal band Pride before going solo in 1987. He calls himself Travel Directions and teaches himself how to play keyboards. He renames his solo project: Digital Dreams. In 1990 the debut CD Digital Dreams – German Groove comes to light. The opening track: “3002” is used as the soundtrack to a C64 computer game, the album reaches # 16 @ the D.R.M.V. charts and the song “Goucho” gets released in 5 countries as part of a sampler.
1991 – 1995
TJ collaborates with Armin Schwarzfeld to release Exzess – Technological age in 1992. He meets Franca Pettrich during recordings for the Exzess – tape and continues Digital Dreams with her. Their 1994 release: Digital Dreams – Hitech Systems reaches # 4 @ the D.R.M.V. charts and DD are listed among the 10 most liked unsigned bands in the Frankfurt Area. For the first time DD plays festivals.
1996 – 2000
Digital Dreams – Vesicula is released, co – produced by Frank M., who wrote songs for Hit Chocolate and who worked with Johnny Logan among others. Vesicula is only released on tape and fails to make a lasting impact. DD split and TJ goes solo in 1997. His first solo E.P. TJ – Pure Love reaches # 1 @ the D.R.M.V. charts. The follow up TJ – Darker Than Black (1999) earns him a 12-minute interview / performance on a local TV station and a video production free of charge. In 2000 TJ emigrates to Ireland. Only 1 month prior to his departure TJ – Midnight Dreamer is released.
2001 – 2005
The Midnight Dreamer does not fail to impress and TJ manges to become special guest on Tallaght Radio in Dublin. He even performs at the famous Civic Theatre and releases his first Irish produced CD: TJ – Eternity. TJ initiates a benefit concert following the terror attacks on New York. www.tj-music.com goes online in 2003. In 2004 TJ proposed in front of 80 people to his girlfriend and the wedding gets scheduled for “some when” in the near future. In 2005 TJs Best Of release: TJ – Sensitivity sees the light of day and gets rave reviews and marks TJs 25th anniversary as a musician.
2005 and beyond
“How Many Times” from the latest release “Sensitivity” enters the TOP 5 @ VH-1s Song Of The Year Dancefloor / Electronic charts at # 3, TJ signs up to musicsubmit.com and as a result his details got listed on numerous pages. New York based radio station WDYN puts TJs songs on heavy rotation and “Sensitivity” gets regular airplay on Dublin based community Radio Station: “Liber8FM” on which TJ co-hosts the morning show “The two Tommy´s” as well as his own show titled: “TJs music special” . Being one of the biggest concert – goers on the planet TJ, together with fiancée and webmaster Nicole Valentin, puts together a unique Website: www.concert-reviews.net featuring memorabilia and reports on over 130 events …
