How to write a blog

There are a lot of blog sites out there but none are in a community of all artists and indie music fans.   We want you to unleash yourselves and your muse on us, just start to type and see what comes out.

OK, let's get started.  First you must grab an artist or listener/community member page, which you can do from the front page (left side).   After that, log in to your administration page.  If you're an artist, go the center column called Blog/Topics and click on "Add Topic."

If you're a listener/community member, near the top of the right column you will see Add a Topic.  Click on that and you're ready to write.

The next part is simple, just type whatever you want.  Give a topic a title that describes what you wrote about and don't hesitate to be entertaining.   The topic you create will be displayed at the top of your blog page and on IndieMusicPeople.com's famous "pipeline", and can be commented upon by others.  For artist pages, a link to the Topics ("Blog") page is displayed underneath your main artist picture. If you're using a listener/community member page to blog from, the topic will be displayed right there.

You might want to blog daily and give everyone who comes to the site a running account of your life as artist, or as a human being. You can always edit or lock your blog by clicking on Edit or Lock on your admin page right under where you originally clicked to write your blog.

If your blog interests indie music people, you will get numerous comments.  Participate on your blog and at the pipeline because these are your peers, you never know what kind of interesting people and collaborators you might meet.

Once you're involved in the pipeline, here's a sort of synopsis of what to expect as it relates to how the pipeline works:

The front page is prime time.  We want the gateway to stay mellower for more diversity on the site.  So everything on the front page goes thru a bit of a sieve.   Mainly your posts will go thru to the front page if your topic names aren't over the top or too repetitive - but the actual arena for the community is the pipeline, on the black Grand Central Station page, where moderation is minimal.   Creativity, openness, opinions.. it doesn't have to be music-related but of course there's a lot of music posts of all sorts on it.  Leap in now and promo your new song, and/or tell us about you.   We ask you to be cool and not disrespect your fellow artists, but we do want this arena to be more real and challenging than a place where everybody just says 'that's good.'

One other thing - Support issues, site issues and suggestions don't go on the Pipeline.  For those, go to our dedicated support forum.

ok, time to blog, let it flow, express, get the word out about yourself, too.   Log in and write a blog.
