I have dem Beekeepers Blues. I'll tell you why. . .

Audio Blocks - Music
Mark Holman - Holworks - lyrics, vocals, and production.

As with any song I write these days, a band was playing and I listened. Then, like Jim Morrison, I slip a syllable around a note, then sang it. Soon, I had a song. More time passed. I heard lots and lots of bands playing without words, so I sang to their music to make just as many songs as bands within earshot. . .

Beekeeper’s Blues

Sandhills Sally, remember, . .
Down off the beaten path there’s a house upon a hill.
A place where you might go to get your latest thrill
You used to have the luxury of cruising on a yacht.
Traveled all around the world like you were never going to stop
Sandhills Sally, you sure look different to me.

I’m a beekeeper down on Fourth Street and Main
With a tiny little talent to sing a honeyed refrain
I hear your clade prefers the glade rather than the field
It seems so strange to rearrange what’s lost and how you feel
You’re going to remember this sweet night for a long time

Bees don’t fly too far from the tree.
No, bees don’t fly too far from the tree.
I like the way you’re buzzing here around me.

You can hear them buzzing, when they start to fly
You better watch out too many stings and you will die.
But that’s ok, the risk is worth the reward.
Just to see your eyes light up this Sunday when I bring you a jar of honey.
Come get sticky with me.

Here’s a little honeycomb to put inside your jar
Consider it labor loyalty, the sweetest by far
I can hear you buzzing when you start to fly
You better watch out too many stings and I will die.
That’s ok, the risk is worth the reward
So come on baby won’t you get sticky with me?

The bee doesn’t fly too far from the tree.
No, the bee doesn’t fly too far from the tree.
I like the way you’re buzzing, here around me.
