"Community Piano"
I even imagine myself one day in an old folks' home for the destitute
clamoring to get in front of the community piano
with half the keys forever out of tune.
I make up riffs and progressions with the good ones.
I fear whatever it is will ban me from the community piano.
I fear the attendant or warden or whatever it is
will ban me from the community piano
because I don't know any songs.
I just play things that could be from songs, but aren't.
I'm getting better at playing with two hands at once.
I can go sometimes 16 measures in a row
while playing like I know what I'm doing,
but don't ask me to do what I just did
because that was mostly luck.
I make up riffs and then I forget the riffs on the community piano.
