Just a fun bit of calypso influenced rock with a touch of Harry Belafonte meets Jimmy Buffet. Maybe if Jim Morrison lived in Jamaica...

Deserted Sand
Copyright © 1969 by Thomas M. Link – All Rights Reserved

Out across the deserted sand
Deserted heart a deserted man
A lonely man with no place to go
And nobody that he knows

And he will cry, he will cry
Tears to wash the hurt away
Cry, he will cry
Hoping love comes another day

Out along the streets alone
A thousand people, but none his own
“We don’t care” they seem to say
And so he goes on his way

And he will cry, he will cry
Tears to wash the hurt away
Cry, he will cry
Hoping love comes another day
(Oh Yeah)

Music x 1

A pretty woman she hangs her head
Deep inside feeling love is dead
A lonely heart with no place to go
And nobody that she’s knows

And she will cry, she will cry
Tears to wash the hurt away
Cry, she will cry
Hoping Love comes another day

And in the coffee shops and in the bars
Underneath all the empty stars
We don’t care people seem to say
And so we go on our way

And we will cry, we will cry
Tears to wash the hurt away
Cry, we will cry
Hoping love comes another day
(All the people)

Music/Instrumental x 2

In the heart of every man
There is some deserted sand
In the heart of a woman too
So here’s what you have to do

So you don’t cry, you don’t cry
Tears to wash the hurt away
Cry, you don’t cry
Hoping love comes another day

If you both can be lonely too
Here is an answer for both of you
Get together – and you both can say
Maybe love will be here to stay

And you won’t cry, you won’t cry
Tears to wash the hurt away
Cry, you won’t cry
Hoping love comes another day, (oh no)
‘Cause love will be here to stay,

Say it with me
Love will be here to stay, (come on now)
Love will be here to stay, (All the people)
Love will be here to stay, (You know)
Love will be here to….
Love will be here to stay.

This is well worth a play, the catchy chorus alone will make you feel good. Don't be put off by the 'Reggae' label, there is a Caribbean feel but it's a solid Pop/Rock song with good music and vocals. The only thing we'd change is the number of verses with identical melody - it's not a long song but it feels like it. Don't 'Desert' this potential Hit!
