Take Me Back (ASCAP)

Randell Beck/Paula Brown

Take me back somehow, take me back someday
I wanna go to old Gruene Hall and hear the guitars play
Broken Spoke and Antone’s too
I wanna go and take you, too
Take me back somehow, take me back someday

Where I live is not who I am you would not understand
These city lights and traffic jams might suit some other man
In the hills and on the plains a sweeter place and time
I was young and I was free and the music flowed like wine

Take me back somehow, take me back someday
I wanna go to old Gruene Hall and hear the guitars play
Broken Spoke and Antone’s too
I wanna go and take you, too
Take me back somehow, take me back someday

Lubbock, Dallas, San Antone – I-35 taking me on home
Austin, Houston, El Paso, all the towns with rodeos

Open roads and sunsets too – an empty dried out land
Dance Halls, dives, and biker bars, and music played by bands
They broke my heart and filled my soul and helped me pass the time
Everybody dancing close, and all the lyrics rhymed

Take me back somehow, take me back someday
I wanna go to old Gruene Hall and hear the guitars play
Broken Spoke and Antone’s too
I wanna go and take you, too
Take me back somehow, take me back someday

Lubbock, Brownfield, old Waco – out on the empty plains don’t you know
Austin, Houston, El Paso, all the towns with rodeos

Take me back somehow, take me back someday
I wanna go to old Gruene Hall and hear the guitars play
Broken Spoke and Antone’s too
I wanna go and take you, too
Take me back somehow, take me back someday
Take me back to Texas – take me back someday

INDIE SPIRIT
Randell has been performing in bands and solo throughout the country since childhood, filling the lead guitar chair for jazz, country, and rock bands, and has performed with national acts such as Country Caravan (SPC), members of Sixpence None the Richer, One Bad Pig, and the Nation. He is constantly recording and performing, both as a solo acoustic singer and as leader of the Americana/Country powerhouse Silvertrain with the NYC area serving as his home base. He has also been a Naval Officer with experience in special warfare, and has performed in various countries around the world. Beck is not only a well known musician, he is also an in demand producer who has traveled the country and produced recordings for various independent musicians and promoted several concerts, including Fleet Week shows in Central Park for the US Navy. But these days, sounds like our lone star is focused on recording his own material, incorporating his Texan heritage into the aggressive New York scene, and creating the music that was born into his blood, something he likes to call – “Texas style, New York attitude”,
