You can't float down Mad River / And just leave this mess behind you.

Lyrics and Music by J. Patrick Sharpe

You were born in Ohio on the banks of the water
And your battles with your family made you leave them far behind

(Ch) While the waters rage
With the passing days
And you can't float down Mad River
And just leave this mess behind you

Well you went down to Cincinnati and you married a pretty girl
But the anger built up inside you and you left her with the kids (Ch)

Outside the leaves are falling and you're sitting all alone
You've got nothing to show for living and you're sinking like a stone (Ch) x

INDIE SPIRIT
I am an independent musician living in West Virginia, making up these songs, and learning a lot about myself and the world in the process. I love stripped down acoustic folk and blues music. I like to hear songs boiled down to their bare essence. That is mainly what I am going for in my own music. Along the way I hope to make people think and maybe smile a little. I have taken down most of my older recordings. I plan to add new versions of old songs as well as new material that I will be working on in the coming months. It's all stripped down and much of it is recorded live with only some multi-tracking here and there- nothing to hide! Demo quality to be sure, but with all my heart and soul in every song! Best wishes, -JP
