The minutes seep into each other
The dust has settled on these shoulders
One era gone another steps abruptly into place
Where did I lose that cutting edge
Did I truly ever have it
Inadequacies shortcomings rear their ugly heads
Ransack the archives find a thread
Each move I made I now retread
A foolish search for some small shred of clearing evidence
Retrace each footstep every pace
Each creeping line upon this face
The undulating shadows underneath these ever changing eyes
Each chapter bleeding into volumes
Each episode it pales beside
The vividness high definition of this stunted lease of life
The rhythm slurs I glance around me
The pace has changed a ruptured story
An age now gone no not as golden as
I'd hoped that it would be
When did I cross that unseen line
What forced me to ignore the signs
Stubbornness ignorance for these I pay
