Something abhorrent here to me now partially unveiled
A demon rearing from the past the anti hero of this tale
An ugly presence evil essence is becoming plain
A dark and swarthy shadow silhouetted
In the doorway framed
The lock well groomed the door it swishes on worn hinges
A wall of cuddly toys and dollies tumble to the floor
A well-versed hand removes the covers from her tousled head
What then ensues is not for those of tender heart and mind
I looked upon those eyes just yesterday
I could not see a single sign
Discern the trauma
See the frightened little girl
The bridled agony the searing pain
Still seething churning in that long since grown up mind
See her now I see the frightened little girl
See her now I see the frightened little heart
Feel her now I hear the girl inside
Her mother and those brothers tried to close the book upon their shame
Chose to turn their heads once more and look the other way
The crime too horrible too terrible too close to home
The little girl in woman’s clothing now she stands alone
The preacher’s palms are greased he paints a picture prettier
The congregation swallow truthless whitewash with relief
No whisper of the bruised and shattered blossom crushed and left to die
The trail of trashed emotion in that cold and cruel tide
A flower in its infancy the petals shattered
Instead of love and comfort all she got was maimed and battered
Deflowered by the very seed that gave the gift of life
What can it be that drives that drives
That drives a father to defile

This creature filled with so much light
This angel filled with light
Child deprived of love and laughter
This his lovely daughter
