Come Home is a song about the Statue of Liberty.

Music and lyrics by Donna Klein. Acoustic guitar and vocals by Donna Klein. All other instrumentation and arrangement by Mark Dye.

I grew up in New Jersey. The Statue of Liberty is ingrained in many families' immigration story, including mine. She is also a part of every soldier's story; embodying the reason why we must at times fight and why we sometimes cry tears of joy when we see her upon our return from conflict.
She wears the stoic mask of her creator
As she watches the harbor.
Searching for her children; she waits for them to Come Home.

Her eyes are firmly fixed on the horizon.
She reflects on the past and she ponders the future
As she waits for them to Come Home.

In their fear they turn away,
Allowing hate and anger to form a new foundation
Where peace and freedom have no place
Among those who would rather live a starless night
That washes over the hope that is the light of day.

She is the burning flame shining in the darkness
Offering a refuge from the storm.

And as the summer heat bends to autumn's breezes
And winter slowly passes to spring time
She waits for them to Come Home.
She waits for them to Come Home. x
