If It Ain’t Broke
© Michael Lewis

I woke up just the other day
My alarm clock prevailed so I was up and on my way
Grabbed my wallet, so I could pay some bills
I looked inside the fat part and
What I saw gave me chills, there was
Way more money, than I’ve ever seen,,
Had to learn to accept it if you know what I mean

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
If it’s all good, nothing’s wrong, doing fine
Just getting along, don’t fix it.

I went down stairs. Still stoked from the thrill
Looked into the kitchen and found the sweetest girl.
With a twinkle in her eye she gave a cute little wink
First it stole my breath then my ability to think
I stumbled on the steps as I mumbled out a stutter
She rescued me with a kiss, with a taste as sweet as butter.
(chorus) (solo)

Well I blew all that money
I treated her bad
Claimed I was the victim
said she’s driving me madd
I laid around the house and
I drank too much beer
Things went from bad to worse
and they wound up severe
I woke up in a cold sweat from that bad nightmare
I’m gonna keep my wife and keep my life
This promise won’t be broken here.
(chorus)

(dialogue) Baby,
Let me take you out to dinner?
No, I don’t need to watch football, I’d rather spend the day with you.
I just paid off your credit card, what do you say we go to the mall?

Can I help you clean the house? Maybe vacuum? Maybe you have something that needs ironing? You’d rather that I don’t iron. Okay, well then how ‘bout if I take out the trash? You just relax, I’ll take care of that for you. Let’s watch the Notebook again, that was a good movie.
How ‘bout just you and me…
all night long? You and me, all night long.

Like the modern funky style of this one.
