About losing someone special and coping

Words and Muisc - Louise B. Peacock (SOCAN)

Based on a conversation with someone who loved her, I wrote this song for my departed friend, Lolly. We all miss her, but life must go on and that's how she would have wanted it.

K-NDY
WOAH! This song freaked me out a little bit. It really reminded me of Schoolhouse Rock and that has nothing to do with the name Lolly. It's the quality of the vocals. Remember the haunting "Figure 8"? This song has the same kind of meloncholic atmosphere. The lyrics are about as straightforward as you can get. There is not one drop of pretention anywhere to be found here. The song also has a strong if completely unintentional psychedelic quality to it making it a nice addition to K-NDY.

Psyche Folk
Wonderful vibed, really interesting acoustic song..On the surface appearing to be really chirpy'n' chipper and almost 50s styled sweet-natured and innocent in vibe- but underpinned with this really eerie spooky dark quality. The tension between the 2 moods is irresistable-and part of the appeal of music like Love's Forever Changes..When you see what the songs about, the reason for the tensions very clear..Really glad i found this little gem...'Lolly wouldn't like it but Lolly isn't here..'..

This is so incredibly resonant and strangely haunting..Someone could listen to this in 200 years time and it would still be incredibly resonant and hauntingly strange, yet i bet most listeners would really turn their noses up at it..Which i find strange..That fact shouldn't make make me angry, but it does..This song dosn't make me angry at all tho, quite the opposite in fact..Its a veiled door into a magical world,Lollys world..Actually the world WITHOUT Lolly to be precise..

Grieving for a loved one can take on many shades. Kid Wezel's beautifully crafted song sits in the middle of having to cope with everyday 'normal' life whilst feeling everything is anything but. I don't know who Lolly was, but we can all change the name in this song to know someone we miss in just the same way. Isn't that what a great song can do?

The Hitmen - Completed Contracts
Hauntingly beautiful and genuinelly magical acoustic song.Finding the calm river of serene acceptance after the stormy waters of tragic loss.Has the healing smile of a saint and the intimate whisper of a lover behind closed doors. An absoloute gem.

Wreck On The Highway
A daydreamy look into another's heart and the simplistic melody actually guards a very deep emotion and makes the loss break open like a fresh wound, a startling song that washes over you kindly yet leaves a feeling of guilt, that we might all miss someone one day, and however much, still be forced to live on, laughing, struggling, enjoying life, despite feeling like our right arm is missing, or something worse, a part of our soul...

Radio Free Oxbow
Simple, beautiful lament. Disarming and charming.

"Life Withut Lolly Simple song, direct almost conversational lyrics. Backed by nice fingerstyle guitar. I notice the artist page hasn't been touched since 2005, how much other good music is hiding away in 'dusty corners' of this site?............. My next choice is a cover but totally in his own style How Sweet It Is".......Andy Broad

Life Without Lolly By KID WEZEL is such a beautiful understated song and one thats stayed with me for years. Its got this wonderful sense of serenity and tranquility like a lullaby, mixed with this underlying uneasy haunting major-minor undercurrent. Was walking thru the woods today playing this in my head and thinking how timeless songs can help heal you in some way. They just open up doorways to your inner world and push you to see the world in a more magical way.. As Josh from The Living Dolls said here on another station "has a strong if completely unintentional psychedelic quality to it" ,which is another reason i love it so much. The verses are so matter-of-fact but laced with hidden pain. The chorus is so evocative and spacious..The voice is perfect. Creating such beauty and sense of peace from bereavement and loss.Just one guitar and vocal too.Amazing..Thanks for the magic louise :)
