The music to Garden was written by the boys when I went home on a summer vacation. I was originally inspired by the powerful chorus. I started singing, "You're secret garden will grow back again when you're gone." It was catchy, but seemed a little "tame" for rock and roll. Eventually, I thought "wicked garden," but STP has that locked up. Then wilted garden stuck. I went back-and-forth between 2 different vocal melodies for the verses, but settled on this one because it is edgier (the other version sounded more "creed-like"). I wrote the lyrics when I was really annoyed at someone whom I still don't care for in the least bit. This song is full of venom and was very therapuetic for me to write and sing. This person is still a thorn in my spine, but hopefully won't be for too long. Everytime I see him, negative energy builds up in me and causes me to feel wilted on the inside. When he is gone, I am happy again! -Nate

Maybe I’ll think about it
Maybe I don’t even care
I’m never ever gonna change
All those things I’ve doubted
The cold eyes in my stare
Too much to rearrange
Maybe I’ll live without it
Maybe I won’t even dare
To raise my voice and complain
All those things I’ve shouted
Damaged beyond repair
But I’m trained to sit here and take the blame

Your wilted garden will grow back when you’re gone
Your wilted garden will grow back when you’re gone

Maybe I won’t regret it
Chances are I probably will
Better just to acquiesce
All my good friends get it
But I’m standing in the darkness still
I’ll just say yes to guarantee this success

Your wilted garden will grow back when you’re gone
Your wilted garden will grow back when you’re gone

Sinking, letting go
Drifting, did I go
Thinking . . .thinking . . .thinking . . . thinking . . .

Words chosen
Were spoken
And they left me bruised and broken

Your wilted garden will grow back when you’re gone
Your wilted garden will grow back when you’re gone
We’ll go back when you’re gone
We’ll go back when you’re gone
