Actions speak louder than just setting targets and setting dates.
You’ll hide behind those words – they’re just a means of escape.
You have inspired us with a sense of assurance;
That everything will be ok one day soon.
And that in 10 years’ time our planet will be 80% more restful!
Actions are more promising than just making pledges that you don’t intend to meet.
You have surrounded yourself with the puppets who have the tightest strings,
And the best-oiled joints.
You lock yourself inside a fortress (within a fortress)
You nail a ‘keep out’ sign to the door
And in 10 years here, you spun a web of such control but didn’t manage to do anything.
If I could’ve pulled the strings,
We wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in
- If any of us could’ve pulled the strings with hindsight.
We wouldn’t have spent so much time making money,
When money won’t save us from the hands of the fates.
We wouldn’t have spent our time in the East,
Trying to build ourselves a better financial future;
We’d have first made sure that we had a future at all!
Enough is more than enough as far as this inaction is concerned.
Affected bullshit jargon will only go so far.
“We have set ourselves a date, and by that date we will have done the following things:
- Resophisticated the waste output of this state
- Insentivised domesticated energy saving
- Instated green energy units into 10% of households
- Fabricated a platform of unity with the east.”
If I could’ve pulled the strings,
We wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in
- If any of us could’ve pulled the strings with hindsight.
We wouldn’t have spent so much time making money,
When money won’t save us from the hands of the fates.
