A song sung live in a subway... you might care to stop, listen and throw a coin or two as you hurry by. I wrote and recorded the best part of this - acoustic guitar (capo 6th fret) and vocals - in 2 hours on 19th December 2006. I added some brass, sound effects, echo-vocals, and tidied it up and mixed it the day after.

Verse 1
Stripped naked, curled up on the floor
In the cold light of this hard white corridor
To nowhere;
I can't stand to be touched,
To be loved, it's too much.

Verse 2
She mugged me, took everything I owned
In broad daylight, left me here to die alone;
I'm nowhere.
I can't stand to be touched,
To be loved, it's too much.

Chorus 1
Eyes fall on me like knives,
Afraid for their own lives -
Don't worry, she's long gone, she's long gone.
Are there voices in your head?
Is a viper in your bed?
Don't worry, she's long gone, she's long gone...

Verse 3
My mind is broken and my twisted frame
Will never be warmed or burned by love again.
I'm home here.
I don't want to be touched,
To be loved, it's too much.

Chorus 2
Tacet questions stinging me,
Are these all you're bringing me?
Don't worry she's long gone, don't worry she's long gone.
Hurry up and move along
And let me sing my song -
Don't worry she's long gone, oh she's long gone...

Verse 4
Stripped naked, I'm curled up on the floor
In the cold light of this hard white corridor
To nowhere;
I can't stand to be touched,
To be loved, it's too much... x
