This song is based on a scene from a television show where a police detective is interviewing an elderly resident of a nursing home about a crime she may have witnessed. The problem is the resident has a touch of dementia and during her lucid moments remembers clearly. But that dissipated into other memories as she fades away. Having had a relative with dementia I understood this scene very well.
