The importance of purpose

Lyrics : Sylvia G
Music: Stuart Epos

Walking to Santiago was written in 2018 after a week walk on the french Camino on the way of St James, from Ponferrada to Compostella in Spain.
More than 400,000 people of all faiths and walks of life do this pilgrimage every year. I decided to undertake these few days with a friend out of curiosity but also because I needed time to get away from an over-stimulated life, and find a slower pace .
A backpack with the strict minimum( everything you add is weight!) hours of solitude in a beautiful and breathtaking scenery, where I learned how to reflect on what is important and what isn’t. I realised that keeping my phone off all day ( I only used it for 30 min at the end of the day) and not hearing the continuous bad news was such a blast. It is important to let go. For this week I focused on my goal, to walk between 20 km to 30 km everyday ( 13 to 19 miles) through amazing landscapes meeting other pilgrims along the way. There is truly magic on the Camino .
6 am time to wake up
Alarm clocks ringing, up and out of bed
Cup of tea and tostada
Backpack on forget nothing
Oh no

First day on the Camino
The road is long in front of us
The fog is smiling
It’s dark follow the signs of the scallop shell
The sun is slowly rising

Walking to Santiago, on St James Way
Most amazing people
You meet along the way
Buen Camino, Buen Camino
Such a beautiful way
Buen Camino, Buen Camino,
On this beautiful day
I m walking to Santiago
I’ m walking to Santiago

1 pm on the Camino
Feet are hurting
No blisters yet
Villafranca to Cerbeiro
Up hill, up hill
On St James way
A stop is badly needed

Caminantes, caminantes
We want to find ourselves
No one will judge us on St James Way
Caminantes, Caminantes
We want to find ourselves
We are all pilgrims on the same route
The compostella at the end of our journey ...
