instrumental jamalicious.

Steve April guitar, piano (melody)
Stan Laber melody

Mark Stein lead guitar, organ, bass, percussion

worked out the chord changes years ago with my song-writing compadre Stan. Originally, the lyrics involved different fairy tales, Alice, Dorothy...

In the studio one night, Mark and I did a live jam, all instrumental.

Friend of my Youth, Stan passed away a few months ago, Stan, you are missed, this one's for you.

LEGENDARY MUSIC II
Tipping my hat here to Steve April and Mark Stein with their 'hearts-to-the-pedal' studio instrumental jam tribute, "Rise" in memory of Stan Laber. I never met Stan but shared a collab with him and Steve 10 years ago on "I Don’t Wanna Lose U", a song that Steve and Stan had written years before and that Steve wondered at the time if I'd be inclined to see what I could do with it to give it a new vibe and maybe do new vocals on the song too. After re-tweaking the lyrics, song structure and arrangement, I turned my band loose and, Voila! - we had ourselves a lively rockabilly number, the kind that I like to get my teeth into, and in no short order the song was #1 on the IACMusic.com Country/Rockabilly chart. Bringing "Rise" to my Legendary Music II station is a privilege as well as my humble tribute to the late Stan Laber, a co-songwriter I wish I had met, with special recognition to Steve and Mark who nailed this instrumental track in honouring Stan with a fitting tribute. Steve and Stan's part in "I Don’t Wanna Lose U" can be heard on my Artists page here at IMP. Where the angels sing, Stan, I know we shall meet one day.
