Todd,

Almost 10:45 p.m. here in Paris (Ontario) and I have just arrived home after been away for the day. Unfortunately, I did not have a chance to listen to the Golden Kayak Awards ceremony today.

My sincere and hearty congratulations on your Country Golden Kayak for "We Made It To The Middle" - well deserved my friend.

It was an honour to share the nomination in the Country category with you, Bright Eye Band and Black Hat Society.

Enjoy the Award, Todd ... and never stop making music - it comes with its own reward.

Best wishes.

Thank you for continuing your project. It's really thanks to people like you who still believe even in music. "You mp3 If it's important to me" is tagged with an id3-v1 tag. It appears to have been added by iTunes. Using CDDB. So you needn't worry :-)

I always put id3-v2 and id3-v1 in mine as some software doesn't recongise both types. But that's overkill in a way.

Bryon Tosoff

3/12/2009 7:46:17 PM

Todd. I will have to find a place for Ashes on the Water. it is really a up beat and well written piece of work, good musicianship, and is a song that grabs ya!! I have listened to it probably 5-6 times and will do a few more times. Seriously good song. great rhythm nice hooks and solid all over tune
You did a fine job on those vocals too. Great intro really like it and then you jump in on the vocals quickly, ( sometimes writers-singers take too long there, you got it down here) some nice happening harmonies going on in the song..
I like the way you got the quieter parts of the song and still keep the energy going on
cool piano part too that is a good piece of genius there.Other things about the song I liked was the superb fluid bass line holding it all together nicely with the percussion keeping it in the groove..(just there not over the top or too loud) I hear more a Pop tune happening with an edge...So let me do some review on where I can put this tune. It is not edgy Hard Rocking tune but it has a rock beat with a Pop Feel...know what I mean? I seriously like it immensely, good production, tight as hell too.well done ToddI think I will put it up at Music is Truth and maybe What the Folk since I have some pretty solid tunes going on there ,but not Metal or Heavy Rock tunes. But I may go with it at Smash. but really dont know if it fits...anyways
cool stuff

NOW is the time for you to consider a bitchin' project you could do with ME, J.P. Sharpe and your marvelous guitar & backup vocals work:

JP Sharpe has offered to allow me the honour of getting to do a cover of his tune, "I've got the used to be cool back in high school blues", as a cuntrified/punk/pop/rockabilly thingee:

I told him I'd try and get TODD, of HOP on POP, to do the guitar work and backing vocals/ chorus
and ME and my drummer will lay down the bass, DRUMS and LEAD VOCALS....

I WANT it to take the opening licks from HIS original for a couple of measures, as an INTRO.... An actual SAMPLE of JP playing.

OR we could do a NEW version with him playing the mellower, folksy/blues intro. LIVE NOW but I think it would make his original that much more relevant if we include a sample from the intro to JP's actual song.
I want to cover it with Your and my unique understanding of eclectic punk/country/blues/folk stylin', but STILL give a kiss to the original.

WHADAYA THINK? I think we could make it KILLER. GO right into FAST PUNK riffs for a measure of two, and THEN start in with the vocals. OF COURSE, we'd give YOU a few leads too and backup vocals if you want. I could get one of my guitarist to do rhythm guitar too.... BUT I leave that up to YOU as GUITARIST extroadinare....

I know you're busy like us all. Get back to me when you can, I've left a post for JP on my page & his page too. Thanks or how cool you've been to me on IAC!

EXCITED about this project, and a chance to promote YOURS, JP's & my own style at the same time.... If it's not your cup of tea, then ROCK on anyway!

You have a mountain of music, all of which I must listen to before deciding which one best epitomizes the dying art of not sucking. I am making progress, albeit rather slowly. Cary's Here has made an excellent impression so far and has warranted repeated listens.... but I must tell you: Leo Goldberg's 2-Step is virtually guaranteed a top five placement, particularly if you can get Ivo Braun to play trumpet on it.

Love always,

I don't know so much about the "talent" my friend, I rather think that whatever music and lyrics comes out of me is a gift from my Creator, and the music that accompanies me is a gift of and from my producer/arranger and from the amazing and "Legendary" musicians who work (make that play) with me.

Hope all is well in your corner of the world ... make music and love.

God bless

Neil

A heaping serving of Hop-On-Pop helped to make my day yesterday at my new "Tribute To Johnny Cash" station. Served up alongside musical treats offered by Larree and the Village Jammers, your hell-bent-for-leather smokin' "C'mon Angel" was quintessential Cash.

Thanks Todd.

Ha ha...there are times here when I envy about anyone else living OUTSIDE of Italy :-) (Milan can be a hassle like any big city and times are bit rough everywhere I guess) but I know what you mean, Italy's a good place to live. Funny, I've never actually been to Puglia :-O but from what you're saying I'll have to get down there. Thanks for the add and nice comments....I'll get some of your stuff on Psonic Ptonic soon mate!

Hi Mr. Todd,

Just wanted to drop you a line because I have really enjoyed your posts and today I streamed your stuff while I was at work and boy I am really impressed.
There are times when I hear someone from the indie world and think this stuff is so much better than most of what I hear coming from the radio these days (which is pretty putrid crap). Your stuff certainly falls into the category of so much better than. And then I continue to shake my head at the lack of discernment of those who make the choices to market the drivel that passes for pop music and wish I had the authority and ability to get that junk out of here and expose the talents of those like you.
The music business has always been a den of thieves and will always be so but the sheer gross indifference for passion, sincerity and actual talent has never been in the history of this business at the all time low that we have seen for so long now.
So I thank you for continuing to put out music that actually matters. It is inspiring.

Todd,
Great music!!! Kinda of funny how we found out about the ,"Featured Artist" placement because of your topic. From your mouth to God's ear huh? LOL. I like, "Cary's Here". The song kind of reminds me of the music we used to jam to constantly in our frat back in the day...Good stuff. I wish you the best and may you get many plays of your songs when your band gets on the front page within the next three weeks...LOL. I still can't get over how we found out!!!

I really enjoyed that "secret" video, Todd. And it's my fave HOP song - Ashes on the Water! Your stuff is very XTC to me, which is great. I also keep thinking Cleaners From Venus. Love the bow tie. Bummer about the split. Best of luck with your solo ventures!

.."And to think" ...could easily be the signature tune for this band because 'Hop on Pop' is a perfect description. The song is bouncy and happy, college retro with a fresh, live feel to the instrumentation. The vocal is perfect, wholesome and likeable. You should be proud of the chord structure it flows very well but it is slightly adventurous. What's not to like about this song, it's feels like a friend already :)

Thanks for the comment mate. Interest and courtesy goes a long way in this business and it's a pity when our view of someone we admire gets tarnished. Your story will be at the back of my mind whenever I hear Santana or Deep Purple! Took the chance to listen to some of your tracks - you get a great English poppy sound on some of them - reminded me of James at times. I particularly enjoyed False Start and I Got It Back. Good luck with gigs and plays - and I'm looking forward to hearing the song about the Bible and the Bullet too!!! Cheers, Jet

Hop On Pop

It's still being wrote. And once that's done, I gotta find time to record the darn thing! I do have ONE new song ready to record, though. Little 3-chord ditty. One day it'll be committed. Hopefully before I am.

Where's Bible on the Wall? Came by for a listen...enjoyed my stay...

Hop On Pop

2/27/2007 10:17:36 AM

I began writing that new song -- the one about the bible on the wall of my parents' den. So far, so good. It's just going to need a bit of editing and I think the story will be all told.

Then... to record the damn thing!

Hop On Pop

2/23/2007 11:09:55 AM

There's a bible, framed and hanging in my parent's den. There's ahole through the center of this bible, where a bullet pierced it, while my great grandfather carried it in his jacket breast pocket on the battlefield, as he fought in WWI.

It saved his life, and therefore the lives of my grandfather, my father, myself, and my sons.

I'm not a traditionally religious man, but "The Bible On the Wall" is a new song that I'm working on. Because I do believe in fate, and that there is a reason for everything.

"God does not play dice with the Universe" - Albert Einstein

A brilliant man, he was.
Hopefully this song won't be too long in the making.
