The "Sometimes" tour (Part 2)
Part 2: All roads lead to Wagga Wagga and ... Shepparton?

I'm not going to lie to you, I wasn't particularly thrilled by the thought of visiting Wagga wagga... but now I realise just how unfair my original sentiment was and can look back on my time in Wagga through wonderfully rose coloured glasses.

Wagga is infact the birthplace of the current yellow Wiggle, as well as the fictional creation of satirist Barry Humphries, Dame Edna Everage. Dame Edna was said to have been born in Wagga wagga, mind you, it should also be noted that she hasn't been back since... (awkward.)

Home to the Wagga wagga jazz festival and the Murrumbidgee River, on Tuesday the 13th of July, Wagga played host to me.

Having arrived @ The Tourist just in time, we dragged my pesky Roland up four flights of stairs, set up in front of a huge crowd of under 25yr olds and in order to appease their restless behaviour I promised that I'd finish my set by skulling a pint of beer. Um, let it be known that if I ever actually tried to skull a pint of beer, I'd probably die. So, whilst I did say "Yes, I'll definitely skull a pint of beer" I really meant, "By the end of my set you'll be so drunk you won't even know that I'm escaping through the fire exit."

. . . and then it was on to Shepparton!

Once we left Wagga there was still one obstacle standing in the way of my reaching Melbourne and that obstacle was the Yahoo Bar in Shepparton. As the name might suggest, this is the hangout for the younger Shepparton crowd, with plenty of live local and interstate acts such as British India, Sarah Blasko and... Molly Contogeorge ;)

Aside from the Yahoo Bar, Shepparton is also notable for its "MOoOving Art project", which involves local artists painting fibreglass cows, which are then displayed in tourist locations throughout the city and surrounding townships. So in Shepparton, there are cows everywhere. Big cows. Little cows. Fibreglass cows. Cows, cows and more cows.

My stay in Shepparton was slightly haphazard and there just wasn't enough time to get a really good feel for the place. But as I was bending over to load my Roland into our car, a sneaky passer by (who looked suspiciously like a creepy old man) grabbed my bum - so even though I didn't get a good feel, he certainly did...

Well, I'm coming in to the final leg of the "Sometimes" tour and whilst its been an absolute blast, I'm pretty ready to come home.

Once more I shall leave you (for the 2nd last time) with another quote from my travels.

"There's absolutely nothing wrong with being young and gay. You're young and I'm gay. We're like two peas in a pod!" -Joeline Grace (A singing Transvestite from Wagga Wagga)
