I live for…
My family and writing music
I despise
People who constantly wax about politics when they haven't really done their homework---objectively!
self-chosen nickname
Self-chosen nicknames are kind of lame. Accept the one I prefer for myself, "Musical Genius Guy". It hasn't caught on though.
life turning point
Several: being forced to take piano lessons; getting married; having my first child; my Christian faith is becoming a turning point, but is a gradual work in progress. . . a turning curve perhaps

experience of high strangeness
Being pulled from the audience in a Connie Stevens show and singing and dancing with her ( you know. . . the embarrass the audience guy segment.) Only I wasn't embarrassed.
most overrated
Several big-time bands and performers I can think of. . . but I didn't join the Pipeline to offend anyone by dissing their favorite "stars".
most underrated
My man Donald Fagen--a true musical genius who runs way above the mainstream.
my advice to you
Find a passion and make it a part of your identity---whether it makes money or not.
I'm a fifty-three year old ex-musician who never lost his love for songwriting and recording after the giggin days were over. I guess that makes me a "conceptual" musician (ha). A few years ago, I got the fire to return to the studio, so I spent a couple of years writing, arranging and recording the music I've posted from the "Layers" album---soon to debut on Planet Records. It was a real kick because it gave me a chance to work with a good friend of mine who I played in a band with years ago and who is now into the recording and production side. It was also very gratifying to hear the midi productions I wrote turn into real performances by some great musicians we were able to recruit. Before that, I had spent the past twenty years raising a family and working. Although a little rusty, I was able to put together a pretty good representation of what I'm hearing in my head these days. Although it seems somewhat different than the other music I hear on IAC, I think it holds up. Maybe just because there are some jazz elements, and jazz is timeless. I hope to make some contacts with other musicians and listeners to talk about music and promote each other's work. There sure is a boatload of talent on IAC.
