As a youngster, Paul started playing bass in his step-fathers band in middle Georgia when he was 9 years old. By the time he was 14, he had his own band and was playing rhythm guitar and singing lead in several local middle Georgia establishments. When he was 16 years old, he moved with his mother to El Paso, Texas where he got his first taste of western swing and fell in love with the Texas 2-step style of music.
Paul continued to pursue his music and during his service in the U.S. Army, he and his band “Cross Country Jams”, received recognition and special award for touring and performing for our troops at numerous remote out posts in South Korea.
In recent years, Paul has taken to writing his own songs as well as performing. In his debut album “Feelin’ Like Merle Livin’ Like Hank” Paul either wrote or co-wrote 5 of the 12 songs on the album. There are also 2 other songs on the album that are first time releases.
Early influences in Paul’s style of music were Ray Price, Marty Robbins and Bob Wills. Paul’s singing style is all his own, with a smooth, nerve soothing quality when he sings a ballad to a rich, full voiced style when performing an upbeat song. If you like country music, traditional or modern, there is no doubt you will enjoy his debut album “Feelin’ Like Merle Livin’ Like Hank”. The album is being released in August, 2005.
