The first time I heard Irish folk music was somewhere around the year 2002. Since I had always been interested in singing, I started wondering whether I could be able to sing those songs myself. I performed to my dad who's made music for ages and he immediately grabbed his acoustic guitar. Since then we've been playing Irish, English and Scottish folk songs.

In the Spring of 2006 we got the idea of going to the studio and actually recording a couple of songs, 'Erin go bragh' and 'Dives and Lazarus'. These two songs were recorded by Tuomo Vähä-Pesola at Sunset Studio in Pori, in a terrible hurry. The outcome wasn't brilliant, but here it is. That was the first time I've recorded any of my singing: the shock caused by hearing my own voice on tape was quite undescribable. I have never taken lessons in singing, and rarely performed outside my own apartment.

I've learned the song 'Dives and Lazarus' from Martin Simpson. I love the tune: in all its melancholy it's very beautiful. I've originally heard the second song, 'Erin go bragh', sung by Dick Gaughan, who's my greatest folk influence and a role model in music and in fact, life as well. I'll never forget seeing him perform live at Hammersmith Irish Centre in November 2005. Erin Go Bragh is the very first Irish folk song I learnt, so this is where it all started.

We haven't made any songs of our own - we'd rather the Irish people made the Irish music - but who knows what might happen in the future. Our aim is to entertain mainly ourselves and occasionally others, too. At least we hope so.

At the moment we're recording new songs and re-recording old ones for our forthcoming LP. We've finished one song called 'Snows They Melt the Soonest'. It's a traditional song as well as the other two. No one's got any idea if the whole album will ever come out, but we'll do the best we can.
