Chandra Moon is a Bristol, UK based artist. She’s recorded two highly acclaimed albums and performs live regularly in Bristol and occasionally at other venues and festivals. Hard to place in a specific genre, her work varies from acoustic, rock to folk to reggae with some ambient tracks and electronica thrown in! You can buy her songs track by track here using PayPal at a very reasonable price! Her live band features Paddy Uglow, multi instrumentalist and backing vocalist as well as the wonderful Jimi Can on percussion with occasional appearances of other guest musicians playing special instruments! Many of her songs originate from African drum rhythms which she's studied and enjoyed for many years. Both her albums – Full Circle and At The Healing Tree were recorded and produced by Richard Bloom at Chapel Studios in Bristol. The albums feature some extremely talented musicians are available on iTunes or direct from CDbaby. She also launched two stations here: Over The Moon where she's adding all sorts of tracks that she personally likes and Airspace for ambient and chillout music. ....."Intelligent, beautifully crafted songs"- Bristol Venue ....."It's good stuff and should go down really well in the acoustic music scene happening in Bristol currently........A fine album" Gary Smith - Bristol Uncovered BBC Radio Bristol. ....."Soulful, melodic and chilled, Chandra Moon's album 'Full Circle' rests on slick, uncluttered production boasting some enchanting vocals backed by dreamy strings, classical guitar, double bass and woodwind.... ...."If you like KD Lang, Ryan Adams or Morcheeba, this may well be an album for you" - Bristol Rocks.
Can't Touch The Sky This song was #1 Song on Folk/Acoustic/Americana New Songs Chart for several months and 1st in all genres for some time. It remains my most popular tune and I love playing it live. The guitar picking for this song is inspired by an African drum rhythm which got stuck in my head and developed into this track.
Twice A Year This song is about only seeing your father twice a year as a child - it's not really a sad song but people always think it is!
Clear As A Dream A dreamy song to chill to - about fond memories of love and friendships old and was #1 in genre (Ambient) for about six months in 2011!
Trust Me This was one of my earliest songs which didn't get recorded on the first album. Hope you enjoy this new mix.
Destiny This song is about the reality of what we can and can't choose about in our lives.
Easy This is one of my favourite songs to play live and is about the things we can do in dreams or when the soul is freed from the physical constraints of our bodies. Thanks to Paddy Uglow for the video - hope you enjoy!
Shadow Puppets As it's Halloween coming up I thought I'd move this weird and spooky song up my playlist. It is about the awful tricks your own mind plays at night to keep you awake! Hope you like the video Paddy and I made for the album launch!
Full Circle I wrote this song after the Boxing Day Tsunami 2004. The more recent events in Japan brought all the memories back again. It's the title track of my first album. Here's a You Tube video of a recent live performance of the song.
Through The Fingers Of Your Hand This is a new recording of this song about losing your creative flow, feeling time is passing uselessly instead of creatively. A phase I went through when I tried living in the countryside. Mastered version.
People of This Earth I wrote this song about peace and equality - sadly still relevant today in these times of racism, war and strife it seems the only way to counter war is for people to recognise their sameness rather than our difference and find peace in themselves.
Five Years Ago This is my most bluesy track - about not letting go of a relationship you know should be over by now! Mastered version March 2013.
Fiery Hoop This song is about somehow overcoming your fear and just going for it!
Evermore I wrote this simple love song about my lovely man. Hope you like the new video by Creative Media recorded in my house!
Before You Were Born This is a crazy reggae song about taking LSD in the seventies - I'm not recommending it - quite the opposite but I don't regret it! You'll find this track on my album At The Healing Tree or individually on iTunes. Hope you like the video!
Strip It Down This is a dance song recorded today with Paddy Uglows on keys and electronics and recording and me on guitar, vocals and composition.
Haven't Known You Very Long This song has suddenly gone up to #1 (Jan 2014) in genre after all this time! Nice one - thanks for listening everyone.
At The Healing Tree I wrote this song after an amazing hopi ear candle session - it speaks of childhood memories, ghosts and Africa. It is the title track of my second album. I hope you enjoy it.
Sing A Song Of All Our Nations This is a very rough demo of a track I'd like to record properly. It's about the madness of war inspired by the situation in Syria.
Here And Now Rough demo of an old song about unrequited love.
Rain, Rain It Poureth Down! This song was inspired by a West African rhythm which is similar to a lot of folk music. The time signature is 7/8 but feels more like 12/8 as it's all in triplets! I wrote the lyrics in 2007 after terrible floods in the UK and devastating floods in Kenya. Although the tune seems happy, the message is serious.I was delighted that Jo May agreed to play the bodhran and spoons on this track with Paddy Uglow on the fiddle. It reached #1 in all genres here for several weeks! Mastered version.
A Travelling Man (Very rough acoustic demo) I wrote this song about a dear friend who passed away last year.
Over So Quick A song about the speed life is whizzing past!!
Sit Here Dreaming The cries of seagulls which I've tried to emulate in the instrumental break was what inspired me to write this tune.... did well in the blues chart here at IAC.
No Friend Of Mine This is a song I wrote in 2008 about a very good of friend of mine who suddenly turned on me for reasons unknown. We've never reconciled and I still don't know why. Mastered version March 2013.
Endless Love I wrote this song on a visit to Australia to see my spiritual teacher
Rocking Horse A song of retribution by a woman on a man - a completely true story - I really did burn his rocking horse!
When It Ends Trying to stay as friends after a relationship has finished. Enjoy Richard Bloom's great guitar solo in the instrumental break! This one was on the KIAC Hitline for several months and is now climbing the charts - Thanks!
Apollo I thought you might be interested in this - It's an improvisation based on a traditional Kora tune featuring Moriba Kuyarteh on Kora and Chandra Moon on flute. It was recorded in February 2016 in Gambia.

4/24/2014 8:23:40 PM Yes I really liked Full Circle Chandra - hypnotic with some great changes in it. Living in a regional area with poor reception, I'm still lacking a home internet connection that works for multimedia streaming so I can only get little snippets here and there of the work of other artists at this site when at friends places etc. Which is a big shame as I like what I hear when I do. Also, thank you for supporting my music here with adds to your stations. Keep on creating! xCary
